About Holly

While originally from Alaska, Holly’s family roots in Florida drew her to Florida State University, where she graduated with a degree in political science. She also holds a master of public administration from Florida International University.

When not working, you will most often find Holly at a youth sports event, cheering on her 12-year old son Drake in football, soccer, basketball or baseball.

She is a member of the Florida Council on Arts and Culture, Florida National Parks Association Board, Florida Association of Counties Board, Monroe County Education Foundation Board, Florida Keys Healthy Start Coalition Board, American Red Cross Greater Miami & The Keys Board, Thriving Mind South Florida Board, Key Largo Rotary, and is a past member of the Florida Defense Support Task Force and past Florida State Director for the National Foundation of Women Legislators.

Dedicated to Public Service.

Holly entered public service in 2003 as aide to Republican State Representative Ken Sorensen and continued to serve his successor, Democrat Ron Saunders. She gained in-depth knowledge of issues facing the Florida Keys and was elected in 2012 to the Florida House of Representatives to serve the 120th district, which includes Monroe County and southern Miami-Dade County.

As State Representative, Holly championed the passage of the Florida Keys Stewardship Act, establishing a long-term framework for state funding of critical Keys water quality and land acquisition needs. Much of her work during her eight years in the Legislature was focused on our marine resources, from legislation safeguarding our lobster and stone crab fisheries, to diver safety and at-risk vessels.

In addition to securing hundreds of millions of dollars for projects and programs in Monroe County, she also passed legislation on agritourism, protecting victims of domestic violence and sexual harassment, safeguarding our military bases, property insurance, and highway safety. Holly was appointed to the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners in September 2021 after the tragic passing of her friend and fellow public servant, Commissioner Mike Forster.
